ReVision: Diaries Reconsidered & Revised

July 1 – August 27

Opening Reception : July 7, 5–7pm

The Art Library at DAC

“When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” Max Planck

This is an exhibit that really began the moment I realized my legacy of mixed-media journals, private letters, and personal diaries needed to be harvested. The shelves, boxes, suitcases of books and papers amassed through the decades deserved reconsideration. As the artist, and now censor, I decided what could be placed in the next generation’s hands or used to create something new, a different art form.

Thinking beyond paper or the book, this exhibit represents the beginning of my process, an exhibit of original and altered diaries.

Charlene Geiss is a mixed-media diarist whose innovative personal journals and book art has been exhibited in solo and group shows. She is the co-author and artist of Inner Outings: The Diarist’s Deck and Book of Exploration and is a featured diarist in Signatures: The Art Journal Collection. With graduate work in both Education and Psychology, Geiss founded the Diarists’ Workshop in Santa Fe and offers workshops and retreats in the U.S. and abroad.
