DAC Holiday Card Art Contest!

Artists ages 5-18

Submissions must be in the ratio of 4 X 6 inches, landscape format (that means width-wise).

Email a scan or a photo of your image to deena@durangoarts.org by Thanksgiving day. In your email, please include your name, age, the title of your piece, the medium you used, and a sentence or two of what inspired your piece.

Call out to artists ages 5-18!

We would love to have you celebrate this holiday season by creating beautiful artwork that will be used for our DAC holiday cards.

Winning images will be included on this year’s DAC member holiday cards and will be sold at the Winter Solstice Artisans Market to benefit the Durango Arts Center!

12 winners will receive a special DAC art-pack, including an acid-free sketchbook, pens, and pencils, all in a special bag imprinted with wildflower seeds in the paper that you can plant in the spring!

Contest rules: (they’re easy-peasy!) Submissions must be in the ratio of 4 X 6 inches, landscape format (that means width-wise). For example, you could fill up a regular size piece of copy paper (8.5 X 11 in.) and that is a perfect size as it is approx. twice 4 X 6 in.

Email a scan or a photo of your image to deena@durangoarts.org by Thanksgiving Day. In your email, please include your name, age, the title of your piece, the medium you used, and a sentence or two of what inspired your piece.

Winners give the DAC permission to reproduce submitted images for the purpose of creating seasonal gift cards. Last names will not be included in the announcements or on the artwork. Please no violent or negative images. Winners will be notified via email by Dec. 1st, 2020, and will be invited to come to pick up their prize at the Durango Arts Center.

Here are some ideas to get you going! You could draw or paint Snowflakes, three-dimensional gift packages tied with a bow, reindeer, trees, trains in the snow, candy canes, the mountains, a fireplace, your dog in an elf hat, or anything that reminds you of the holiday season! Put some sparkle in your piece by adding a border. Create dimension by overlapping the objects in your picture! Have fun with color, and be creative! We can’t wait to see what you make!
